Bruce Ford practices in state and federal courts throughout
South Dakota and Minnesota. His practice is limited to plaintiffs’ injury and wrongful death cases,
including personal injury, products liability, civil rights cases and sexual
harassment, and professional (medical and legal) malpractice.
Bruce is a Sterling Honor Graduate who graduated first in his class from the University of South Dakota
School of Law. He was a law clerk to the Hon. Fred J. Nichol, United States District Judge. He was one
of the first South Dakota lawyers to be board certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board
of Trial Advocacy. He is a past president of the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association and is a member
the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates.
Bruce is rated "AV", the highest rating given, by the respected, nationwide Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.
An "A" rating is the "very high to preeminent" category, the highest rating possible. It signifies that the
lawyer has reached the heights of professional excellence and is recognized for the highest levels of skill
and integrity. The "V" rating is the highest for adherence to ethical standards, reliability and diligence.
Bruce also belongs to the Minnesota Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
He has been a guest lecturer on medical/legal matters at the University of South Dakota School of Law and the University
of South Dakota School of Medicine.
A Vietnam veteran, Bruce served as a U.S. Army medic and helicopter door gunner with the128th Assault Helicopter
Company, 11th Combat Aviation Battalion in Vietnam. He is married, with three children and several
grandchildren. He is active in many professional, civic and arts organizations both locally and statewide.
He is an avid pheasant hunter and plays trombone in the Watertown Municipal Band.
